Really disappointed i've not seen Moyes post match cunting the ref off..... surely thats the least he should be doing?

Pathetic from him, should be giving him all sorts of shit in his press conf

Also the yellow cards for 'asking the ref for a player to be booked' are shit aint they.....whats the point in that how on earth does that make the game better. I'd say about 70-80% the players are right in that it should be a booking

Thought it was 2 points dropped rather than a point gained....they were there for the taking

First half thought we played well, but think we would of had more chance of winning if Kudus started. Paqueta having that free role works brilliantly but would be even better if he had Kudus and Bowen on the wings to link up with.

Also thought Emerson was going to be a big threat down our left till his silly yellow.

Soucek again with under 20 passes at home? Absolute embarrasment.....scored a few tap ins lately but he should be nowhere near the side.

Antonio also just doesnt work hard enough off the ball for me, gives the CB far to much time on the ball. We sit back inviting their defenders to have the ball. Compare that to their pacy high press.... for me thats so much more effective.

It was no coincidence that we looked far better when the two worst footballers in the side went off

Finally Aguerd....i've backed him alot this season but since then he has been shaky at best. Thought on the ball yesterday he was poor then bullied for their 2nd. Isak does nudge him but Aguerd is appealing for a offisde instead of playing to the whistle. Time for Dino to be given a run in the side

As I say feels like 2 points dropped for me, Newcastle had injuries and first half were awful, yes the ref helped them out with the first goal and the Bruno red card but I also think Moyes was too slow to react to the momentum changing in the 2nd half. Kudus should of been put on earlier

I'm not against ref's giving a player the benefit of the doubt and using some common sense sometimes, even more so when he is thinking about brandishing a second yellow, but that yesterday was fucking B. I'm not into conspiracies etc, so just think he bottled it as both fouls were near to each other, but it was a blatant yellow in today's game and it probably has cost us an extra two points. As for Almiron, apparently the ref wasn't looking at him so he didn't see it, otherwise he simply has to give the yellow, and to be fair if the player was on a yellow he probably wouldn't have committed the foul for the second yellow.

Still, Moyes didn't seem to upset after the game, so I'm not. We've had stuff go in our favour too, last season quite a bit, with one or two on here labeling us the luckiest side in the league!

My first (Live) game of the season yesterday and thought it was a decent game.

How the Newcastle player didn’t get sent off for that “Tactical” foul when he was already on a Yellow card I don’t know.

As others have said the main criticism would be that he should have brought on Kudus much earlier when the game was starting to get away from us. Need to be more proactive.

We definitely deserved a point though and almost won it with Bowen towards the end.

Haven’t had a chance to look at the possession, ball retention and passes complete stats though so my opinion on the game might change after viewing them! 😉

100% agree. Guimarães should have recieved second yellow and subsequently a red card. It was clear and obvious the prevention of a promising attack. That non decision changes the game and kept it in Newcastles favour.
Also Almiron should have received a caution for gesticulating card production which Emerson received.

Since the Liverpool v Spurs game with all the shit refereeing in that which has filtered to the other referee teams, they are increasingly under the spotlight and under more pressure. That pressure in my opinion creating inconsistancy and those decision are changing the complxion of the game. The Liverpool scenario could be that that those lost points mean they dont win the title or qualify for the champions league which is a massive loss in terms of revenue and kudos.
Howard Webb has his work cut out.

We were in control for 3/4 of the game. Start of the 2nd half cost us. Newcastle should have been down to 10 men in the 1st half. Ref lost his nerve.

We looked much better when Kudus came on. Shame he was only given 15. Another 10 may have been enough to get us all 3 points.

Moyes needs to fit him in somehow. The one that drops to the bench should not be Antonio. Be interesting to watch Kudus with Antonio stretching play and giving him more space.

Soucek seems back to having the skill of scoring goals without ever really doing much else. I think it is him that needs to make way. Moyes however would not do that when he was offering absolutely nothing so he wont do it now he is scoring.

May be a bit harsh on Soucek and he works hard and is getting on the score sheet but in terms of linking up play he offers next to nothing.

And: AWFUL refs decision not to book Almiron for waving the imaginary yellow card, when he’d earlier booked Emerson for that. At least Emerson was the one fouled! Almiron went on to get booked in the second half which would have seen him go! Newcastle should have had 2 sent off! Ref was as bent as fuck!

Start off great, take the lead. Half time comes and the inspiring team talk begins of "lets do all we can to invite the other team on and earn a point"
AWFUL fucking ref decision or non decision of Guimeares who on any other day gets sent off. AWFUL fucking ref decision on Paqueta and Tonali which not only stopped us break 3 vs 2 but led to Newcastle equalizer.
AWFUL fucking ref decision not spotting the blatant push in the back of Aguerd for second goal.
MOMENT of individual brilliance to save Moyes wanky fucking tactics again.
REPEAT next game.

We will always be better last 15 when a goal down. It’s the only time that Moyes allows players to play with freedom to try and snatch a point.

I've just read that Soucek touched the ball 15 times with 8 completed passes and the goal

Also read this

Mohammed Kudus’ game by numbers vs. Newcastle [14 minutes]:

90% pass accuracy
15 total touches
1 dribble completed
1 chance created
1 goal

We were so much better the last 15

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
Antonio I’d agree, although injured yesterday, is more of a problem than Soucek right now who is notching goals. But the trade off in Soucek is that if you want to get and keep the ball more then you need better imo.

Someone like Mctominay would be an upgrade but he won’t come to us as we are seen as a step down. But a more agile player with better technique. Moyes nw substitutes Soucek so he now perhaps knows he is a weak link in some respects ? Hopefully Steidten has targets in the next window or two to upgrade Antonio, Soucek, Benrahma wide left and Coufal. Maybe another CB too as Oggy will retire and we need back up for Emerson arguably.

It was always going to take a few windows and good recruitment for each window which is something we have always struggled to do due to identifying and purchasing the wrong players down the years or simply not having or wanting to invest enough. More recently the investment has increased ( although Rice money a massive factor ) but with Steidten it’s hopefully going to see the shrewd recruitment this summer repeated ?

I don’t disagree about Soucek’s all round game, but when he isn’t asked to be the out and out holding midfielder, he clearly does have the knack of getting into goalscoring positions, and whether you rate him or not, that is a skill. When he has Alvarez and JWP behind him, you almost can afford that luxury.

Yeh I’d rather Kudus play, but then I’d like to see Antonio dropped as well, and Soucek is certainly offering more than him even if just basing it on goals.

Perhaps we should say Moyes is part of the reason we are 7th in League, with a good start to winning our Europa League group after winning the Europa Conference League our first silverware in 41 years?
Or perhaps that's just drivel from a Moyesi cunt...

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
Opinions as always but we have to recognise that players like Antonio, Soucek, Coufal and Benrahma are one big reason why we cannot match the better 6 or so teams in the division if we want to play more of a possession based game. A tad harsh on Coufal perhaps but over a season he is a good squad man but like the others mentioned we need better to progress further.

Our manager is of course unlikely to change his approach so again longer term we will need to look at someone else but at this point in time he’s doing ok.

Now some will point to reborn again Soucek. Yes he’s doing better but it’s what you might call “scoreboard fans” that see only the goals. 8 competed passes in a game is not going to be good enough if we want to progress further. Most elite teams only accept that for an out an out striker who’s job is to score goals. Soucek is a weakness if you want a team to get and keep the ball better.

Antonio was unfit but like Soucek, Coufal is technically wanting if we want to improve possession and be capable of playing on the proverbial “front front”. These players and Benrahma, Fornals etc.. are squad back ups at best.

So let’s hope Steidten gets better players in future and that will be the time to move Moyes on if, as we think/expect, he cannot progress his approach.

In summary, Moyes is part of the problem but with current first 11 “holes” or weaknesses we fall short anyway of being able to go “toe to toe” with the top 6 or so teams. If we had tried to be more expansive yesterday, Newcastle would have been out of sight and caught us on the counter imo

Just rewatching on match of the day, hasn’t noticed during the match but there’s a push on Aguerd before the second Newcastle goal. Another decision that could have gone a different way. I thought he just misjudged it, but Isak pushed him.

On a plus side, 4 assists already for Coufal

Still some idiots think this.
It's a pity and God knows why Arsenal didn't take Soucek and leave us with the average Rice.
Rice offers so much more,he tackles and starts of attacks after receiving the ball than either Alvarez or Soucek. He may not assist but his drives forwards creates many chances. We still miss him end off

Murphy confirmibg what a simpleton he is. “Red cards used to be for really nasty and vicious fouls”. He is correct there, but does not seem to understand that cards are given for snide and deliberate fouls to stop attacks.

The bloke is an absolute prick.

Just watching MOTD2 - it confirms how shit Bankes was. Eddie Howe banging on about them being tired after Europe on Wednesday and Shearer and Murphy saying the same too. We played in Europe a day after them, no mention of that. Cunts.

At least Shearer says that Guimares should have been sent off.
